Does echo-chameleon play with reciprocal functions make a banal symmetry?
Banal symmetry is when the same piece acts in the same way in symmetrical directions. Even banal symmetry is OK if it enables a most economical mechanism.
I think that an idea should be presented through a most economical and natural mechanism. Chess "naturally" offers many symmetries, avoiding them is unnatural:)
