Thomas Pantalacci's problem was published in this case first and the problems has similar content. So if I were a judge I would say that the second problem is anticipated.

Replacement pinning on two lines (the bQ replaces bB and bS as pinned piece) is a familiar motif in h#2 - but I find no anticipation in the WinChloe database.

The version by Xirdalan has models in both variations, which is a clear advantage.

It is possible to save one piece:
W - Kd1 Rc4 Bc8 e1 Sd3 e8 Ph4 (7)
B - Kg4 Qf7 Ra5 a6 Bd4 Sd7 h3 (7)

There ara no cooks in Kjell's version - black S is on h3... So, the version is very good!

Sorry Kjell. I wrongly placed a BPh3.

Overall economy is desirable but the original idea should come first. The idea is an abstract mechanism and it is pefectly presented on the board when the mechanism of thematic pieces is equivalent to that abstract mechanism.
Non-thematic technical pieces are only a cheap shell for a supremely precious thematic mechanism. I would primarily search for the equivalence of the idea and thematic pieces because they make the originality.
bQ is thematic in both phases but bRs only in one phase each. bQ and only one bR would be enough and possible reciprocity would raise the complexity of the idea and thematic mechanism. Polishing of the shell (non-thematic effects and material) is important but secondarily.
A rough example
W:Kb8,Sb4,Sg3,Bb2,Ph2,Rf1
B:Pf7,Pg7,Se6,Kf6,Pg6,Qa5 ,Sc3,Bf3,Ba1,Rb1,Re1

Very true: the complexity and harmony of the thematic play is more important than the fine polish of the position.

I think the reciprocal functions of bQ/bR are a step forward here, even though the interferences now have a somewhat symmetrical touch.

I don't know if I dare mention this :-) , but Nikola's position can be polished too: -Pf7, -Pg7, +wBg8, Se6>g7, and Ba1>g1 saves one piece and looks more airy.

Nikola makes a nice point and his suggestion is definitely an improvement of the machnism.

His version being "rough" improvements should obviously be possible.
