Orphan: an immovable unit that has no power unless attacked by a unit of the opposite colour, when it takes the power of that unit and can transmit that power to other orphans.

perhaps a little static but no arguing the black half pin and pair of triple pinmates! Nice orphan play, an invention of American David L. Brown!

In principle, completely static pins look rather artificial. Pinned or pinning pieces should play in other phases. But here the pins are needed to empower the Orphan. Still, 2 pins would be quite enough.

Model mates are relative, because bK must not come in contact with Orphan even when it is not attacked by any other piece. When Orphan is too powerful, it guards the flights in many ways.
