


| 60th World Congress of Chess Composition (WCCC) - Highlights and decisions |
(10.09.2017) Here you can see the highlights and some of the decisions from the WCCC 2017 Dresden, Germany. 30 member countries were present, unfortunately without bulgarians this year. But the participation in the tourneys during the congress of the IGM Petko Petkov was great. He won a lot of prizes including wins of both sections of the Tzuika tourney which problems you can see here:![]() Perfect realisation of the tourney theme (which was HS# with minimum of 4 consecutive cross-checks during the solution) - creation of black batteries, white Royal battery play and 5 thematic checks on each solution in excellent construction Meredith!
![]() Very rich thematic complex with annihilations, creation of black antibatteries and excellent play by the white Chameleon (which fairy piece is invention by the bulgarian grandmaster) and 6 thematic checks on each solution!
Very soon we will publish a selection of Petkov's recently awarded compositions!
Here are some of the decisions from the congress:
- FIDE Album: The 2010-12 album was published as scheduled. Judging of the 2013-15 album is proceeding as planned; the results of the pending three sections are expected by the end of 2017 to early 2018. You can purchase it from Peter Gvozdjak by email:

- WCCI: Dmitry Turevsky will be the director of the 2016-18 WCCI. Selection of the judges will start this year.
- New titles for composing:
14th International Solving Contest (ISC) on 28.1.2018. The central controllers will be Axel Steinbrink and Luc Palmans.
14th European Chess Solving Championship (ECSC) in Kaliningrad, Russia 5-7 May 2018
61st World Congress of Chess Composition (WCCC) and 42nd World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC) in Ohrid, Macedonia 1-8 September 2018
