"The Leibovici Interference in H#2" by Massimo La Rosa

On the photo is the "young" Massimo La Rosa more than 30 years ago (London, 1978).

Thanks Massimo for this nice article. I think originally Leibovici intended the interference to be on both black and white pieces, so perhaps he did not have helpmates as his aim. Milan in his book specified interference by pinned piece moving along the pinline. So some of the selections may not qualify !

But I am OK if just interference by black pinned piece is shown! The problems in the collection are all interesting.

Thank you. I agree with you. Originally this intereference was intended by a pinned piece moving along the pin line, as Milan said. I am still studying this intereference and many problems are added daily. Thank you.

The name of the theme is wrong.
Giorgio Guidelli had previously published this problem:

Thank you very much Rodolfo for your comment. Yes, it is well known that Guidelli developed new ideas that, unfortunately, didn't get his name. I already heard about Guidelli Interference but today we call it as Leibovici Interference. Please see Sinfonie Scacchistiche n.1 page 5.

It is one of the very few helpmates where the Umnov is not accidental, but have a strategic content. Please, notice that the Qd4 can not be placed on some other square because of the cooks.

About the n.28: in the first solution a piece A interferes with B while in the second solution the piece B interferes with A. So where is the Arguelles theme? The theme requires interference to the same piece like in the following marvellous example.

This wonderful probleme doubles the theme and shows an actual bicolour Umnov: there is no other place for the Qg2 and the B2 are full of content.
