Problem 356: Krassimir Gandev - Fairy (Andernach Dolphin)

gandev(04.03.2014) A wonderful fairy original by Krassimir Gandev which is in memory of Nikolay Dimitrov.

356

a) 1.ADob6-h6(wQf6, wRg6) Qxa6 2.ADoh6-f8(wBg7) Qc6#

[3.ADoc3-c8(bQc6, wSc7)?? Self-check]

b) 1.ADoc3-h8(wQf6, wBg7) Qxb2 2.ADoh8-h5(wRh6) Qd4#

[3.ADob6-f2(bQd4, wSe3)?? Self-check]

Andernach Dolphin = Andernach Grasshopper + Andernach Kangaroo

Andernach Grasshopper: Like a normal Grasshopper (moves along Queen-lines over another unit of either colour to the square immediately beyond that unit) but it changes colour of the piece it jumps over (except the Kings and the neutral pieces).

Andernach Kangaroo: As an Andernach Grashopper but requiring 2 (not necessarily adjacent) hurdles on the same line, and landing on the square immediately beyond the second hurdle, changing colour of the pieces it jumps over (except the Kings and the neutral pieces).

It's strange, but Popeye didn't find the solution.
But the solution is correct in my opinion.

I Believe Popeye doesn't support the Andernach Dolphin, not even in 4.65 (in earlier versions, only the Andernach G was supported). It seems the Andernach Kangaroo is also unsupported, and the same goes for the Andernach Locust (which by itself is not meaningful, but in combination with for example Circe would be).

I agree with the composer's interpretation: of course, the Andernach Kangaroo (and, by extension, the Andernach Dolphin) should change the colour of both hurdles.
