Problem 385: Pierre Tritten - Fairy (Take & Make)

tritten(26.04.2014) Take & Make original Meredith by Pierre Tritten with constantly pinned white pieces play and change of functions.

a) 1.Rh5 h4 2.Kg4 Rxf5-d4#

b) 1.Kg5 h3 2.Rf4 Bxf5-e7#

Reciprocal annihilation-batteries by pieces that stay pinned during the whole play

White Pawn one-two

Model mates

Black Queen cannot be replaced by black Pawn (black Bishop f2 and black Rook g7 would become weasels)

Take & Make: Every capture ("take") must be complemented by a further step ("make":not a capture) by the capturing piece, using the movement of the captured unit, otherwise the capture is illegal. Pawns may not end up on their own first rank. Captures on the promotion rank lead to promotions only if the pawn is still on the promotion rank after the "make" part of the move. Promotions at the end of the "make" element are normal.

So it is weasels chain :) It seems the problem is sound with black pawns at g7 and g3 (and minus f2!) So the pins of white by black are merely decorative ! But I still enjoyed the problem !

A nice effect to have the wR and wB move on the pin-line although they are not line-pinned ... T&M makes it possible!

The rest is also neatly done with two moves by Kf4, Rh4 and Ph2.
