The extra tries are not at all a defect. The term 'Dual' is used only in the case of double refutation to the tries or more than one mate for the same black defence.
If tries are incidental, then it really doesn't matter, but when a try is thematic(here, 1.Rh1? is the important one with its changed play) it is not good for the problem to have an alternate try with the same refutation as it takes away the thematic punch. I consider these "dual-tries". The term "dual" is a flexible one. It is used whenever there is present in a problem, an unwanted alternate feature. A "black-dual" is an unwanted black defense-variation that repeats the thematic mate....
