Well, the main theme is for direct batteries (or anti-batteries etc.) and it is recomendable, but I received some unusual realizations (the fairy field give very interesting posibilities) and one of the received entries is with indirect batteries - so, Ram, you can send such an entry!

Thanks for the clarifications, Diyan. I was confused, because I found a few more examples in WinChloe that were tagged as "Zabunov" theme, but did not have the ambush effect. Of course, the automatic recognition of themes in WinChloe cannot be completely reliable, but it made me think that the interpretation of the theme was not strict, regarding the ambush part. It is clear now.

Dear Kostas, the ambush move is important and should be like that for Zabunov theme. The difference in example 3 is because there the second part of the theme is with anti-battery (instead of battery). So - to have a Zabunov theme with second thematic battery - this battery should be created by ambush move and after that to firing, but if it is anti-battery - it should be in reverse (because of the specific reverse firing betwen battery / anti-battery - the first one firing when the front piece open the line, but the another firing when the front piece close the line). So in begining the front piece of the first thematic battery play on the thematic line of the following second anti-battery and after that this anti-battery firing by move of the front piece closing the line. So in conclusion - in fairy field some specific interpretations are possible depends of the specific of the used fairy element.

Hi Diyan, I have a question about the interpretation of the theme: Zabunov theme - the front piece from one battery makes an ambush move and becomes the rear piece of a newly created battery. The word that confuses me is "ambush". This implies that the thematic piece creates a battery right away, by moving behind another piece of the same colour aiming at the opposite King. Examples 1 and 2 show exactly this ambush effect, but example 3 shows a move by the thematic piece that will form a battery in the future. So, the question is whether the ambush effect is required or not.

This new example is beautiful. 4th white move fires the battery and opens the line for the Locust's mating move. However, since the Locust plays along the former pinning line, the 'unpin' is completely irrelevant and there's no strategical reason to call it 'Guidelli'. Anyway, the beauty remains the same with or without the special names.
