If BOTH capturing piece and captured piece reborn, then the genre is AntiCirce + CouscousCirce and consequently we have a clash between these pieces. Then VolcanicCirce or MemoryCirce rules could be possible (with captured piece UNDER the capturing piece).

Or... just to make things more interesting.. you can have BOTH being reborn on the same home square.. like in 'volcanic circe'.. but again have to decide which sits under which! This may well happen.. and maybe is already implemented.. in a volcanic circe + kamikaze combination..

In Circe Kamikaze, during a capture, the 2 pieces reborn except the Kings, after Circe procedure. In Circe Couscous Kamikaze, during a capture, the captured piece reappears on the Circe rebirth square of the capturing unit and the capturing unit vanishes (so do not reappears at all). This is my humble opinion.

I think the confusion started with naming a variety "Circe" where the both capture/captured pieces go back to their original squares as "Kamikaze-Circe". This is a bad name. "Kamikaze chess" is all about captor disappearing with the victim named after the suicide Japanese pilots of World war II. In this problem CJF wants to combine Kamikaze chess and "coscous Circe", ie. a Circe form where the captor vanishes and the captured piece returns to designated square. I hope "Popeye" will resolve this soon.

Thank you Shankar Ram for sharing your opinion with us. Yes, in Couscous/ Kamikaze the rebirth squares of both pieces are the same. If I remember correct WinChloe and Popeye are programmed to give priority of Circe type conditions. Actually if the authors can choose which of used fairy conditions have to be with priority there are so many interesting ideas for realisations, but probably this option will be very difficult to be programmed.

i think i may have put my foot in my mouth in my previous comment.. without looking deeply at the implications! actually the couscous/kamikaze combo raises an interesting question: in a normal circe/kamikaze combo, both the capturer and captured would go back to their home squares. but here the 'home' square is the same for both! so.. who gets priority? i don't know how popeye, winchloe, alybadix treat this situation. anyhow, i modify my opinion somewhat: whether the capturing piece should be reborn in a kamikaze/circe combo is not a 'logical' conclusion but a subjective one!

this is a question of definitions and their interpretation: both circe and kamikaze are capture specific definitions. so when they are combined, one would expect that both conditions (piece disappearance and rebirth) are applicable.. which is what the popeye developers have done. if a different interpretation is needed for specific problems, then better to mention it as a special case. In a couscous circe/kamikaze combo, the kamikaze effect would still appear but only if the rebirth square of the capturer is already occupied.

I have the same opinion like Chris Feather about Kamikaze - in combination with rebirth conditions (as Circe etc.) only the captured piece should be reappear, so the problem n.3 looks OK for me... What the readers think about it?
