Vitaly, "YOU" does NOT refer to YOU PERSONALLY, but to a hypothetical advocate of a certain viewpoint. "OTB strength" might help in solving but has very little importance in composing. A weak player may eventually, after sufficient time and effort, understand everything relevant for a problem. And a strong player may easily miss the essence of the problem's content, exactly because of the quick perception of the combined effects of the play. The effects may be partially indicative, but they don't tell you the deep complex motivation for the play. Your approach to the problems by reducing the motivation to being equal with the effects. There is no strong play against a strong opponent, relying just on perceiving the equal "homogeneous" effects. And I'm sure you're well aware of it!!! I've seen several of your excellent problems (and participated in one or two) but I don't remember any deeper chess-essence. That's pretty usual for h#2, especially with your viewpoint. It's a quite contradictory viewpoint for a strong chess player, insisting on the trivial "homogeneity" instead of a deep harmony of many diverse and asymmetric features. Alphabet problems may indeed be deprived of any interesting chess-play. But you surely recognize when the alphabet simply indicates the relations which do make a complex chess play.

Nikola, I do not impose my little island esthetics to the whole world, I just express my point of view. The whole world may easily ignore it. What was said by Jesus Christ two thousand years ago now became a little island in multiculturalized, pluralized and tolerantized Europe... I'm a rather strong chess player and anyone can to percept the chess essence in my problems. That hardly could be said about many modern problems in which there is alphabet but not the chess essence...

That's why bureaucracy and machines can not understand. They can only compute, repeating the loops of a fixed logic procedure. The speed and exactness of computing relies on the exact definitions which requires extremely narrowed meaning of the terms. For that purpose, the words which stand for the deep and complex concepts are deprived of their genuine meaning which is thus distorted and reduced. And, the completeness of a genuine concept is lost. For instance, diversity and harmony have almost completely lost their essence in your terminology. And the symmetry too. The essential features of the Game of chess are obviously lost in your narrow approach to chess composition, they are not "a matter of taste". Chess-play is exactly "harmonizing the diversities". You certainly may have your own taste and prefer the extremely narrowed "island" of "equal motivations" and trivial symmetries. But why would the whole world have to follow the esthetics of your little island. Try to understand what is chess, harmony, symmetry, motivation etc.. You're missing the essence and the general principles.

Oh, that what you call it - DIVERSITY! Apparently, this is a "new word" in the "world of chess composition". Maybe it is but that does not make a problem perfect in artistic aspect. I suppose, this is the matter of personal taste. For instance, I have not accepted the "organized disharmony" conception though I had composed some helpmates within it. Regarding to h#2, my approach is attempt to reach a complete harmony which involves all half-moves of the problem but, in the same time, it excludes a trivial symmerty. Nevertheless, this does not means that a problem is bad, if the aim is not reached. Shortcomings may be justified by originality+complexity of author's idea.

And your last sentence means that your perception has a terrible shortcoming. You can't see what is not prescribed. Diversity is certainly not shortcoming. What is your approach, - Insisting on discrimination? - Worshiping "single race of motivations" with a motto "Each problem must be a ghetto"? - Despising a harmonization of differences? A (correct) original problem is a "new world", with perfectly harmonized features that make it correct. We should grasp the essential nature of that "new world" and see what harmony governs it. Imposing the nature of "our world" disables understanding the other one. We should rely only on the GENERAL principles which are COMMON for the nature of both "worlds". It's the nature of chess and more narrowly, the nature of particular stipulation (genre). "Equality of motivations" IS NOT a general principle in chess (there's quite the opposite principle of harmonization). And it's not a general principle in h#2. (Obviously, there are prejudices about it in some "narrow world", causing the handicapped perception.) The unified concept of "Chess+Stipulation" is the MEDIUM for realizing an idea. It's about a perfectness of BALANCE between the intensity and the economy, with regards to that medium. Trivial symmetries are popular because they indeed help a handicapped perception to recognize easily the balance. And of course, by default, it's an extremely "narrow world" for the "wide public". And of course, it all relies on the recognition of well known features, with very little or no originality at all.

WHY "there must be annihilation of wS", if not because of line-interference? The "internal driver": a) must eliminate interference b) must not disable interference c) must create interference A particular piece is captured because: a) it interferes b) it can't interfere c) it can't interfere in time, so bR must go to c2 to play Rc2-g2. -"...It is obvious that the motivations are diferent (unequal, inhomogenious)..." Well, that diversity is interesting but I don't see it as a significant contribution to the content.
